Project summary:
The project focuses on: (1) the recent EU corporate sustainability and environmental, social
and governance (ESG) agenda, (2) the corporate ownership and governance changes in the
past decades, and (3) the challenges, controversies and unresolved questions of the
stakeholder governance and the emphasis on ESG considerations. The module is built on the
book “The European Corporation” (2023), Cambridge University Press, edited by Klaus
Gugler and Evgeni Peev, examining corporate ownership and control changes in the past
decades. The project is also enriched from the ongoing cooperation in Jean Monnet Corporate
Governance and European Integration (CGEUI) network (www.cgeui.org) on the recent EU
corporate governance and ESG data, research, and international faculty teaching. The project
will apply the following approaches: (i) context-based, (ii) multidisciplinary, (iii) historical,
and (iv) digital education. The methodology consists of the following key elements: teaching,
research, and events.
